Audi A1 Arena
Auckland, New Zealand
November 21, 2010
I was fortunate enough to be in New Zealand when Audi released the new A1 at an event called A1 Arena. Audi did a great job setting up a display pavilion (including a lounge area with a DJ and a coffee bar), as well as a short gymkhana course on which they had test drivers take guests for an exciting spin in the nimble little car.
Everything was very polished. The small facility looked fresh, models walked around giving away smart water, the DJ spun hip tunes, and everyone got a little thrill on the test drive. Guests could also occupy themselves by looking at the brochure apps on the iPads laying around, or peruse the special edition hats and t-shirts that were for sale.
The A1 is a very cool little car, especially with the retro Audi Sport interior livery. Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring it to the US.
I wasn’t allowed to drive the car myself, but I caught a ride around the gymkhana and had a great time spending the rest of the afternoon watching the drivers spin other passengers around the course.
A1 Arena NZ has it’s own Facebook page here. You can go there to check out other photos and videos from the event.
