I took Finley to David’s ranch, where she fired a rifle for the first time and scored a bullseye into a TV. I’m so proud of my little Elvis!
June
I saw Duran Duran at Moody Arena, when they came through Austin. It was a last-minute call, so I went alone. The band opened the show with, of all songs, Night Boat, which was a hint of spookier things to come later in the year.

For my birthday, I bought a new and expensive camera for myself – my first Leica. I love my Nikon, but I have found that its bulk is a barrier to its use. When I’m traveling, I find that I don’t want to carry it around with me and I fall back to using my mobile. I tend to buy Samsung Ultras, which take very good snapshots, but they simply can’t compare to an actual camera. I thought the compact size of the Leica was the answer to my problem, but sadly, I never had the chance to find out.

In August, I came home from work one day to find that my house had been burgled and my new beautiful Leica was gone! I was heartbroken.
