I was fortunate enough to be in New Zealand when Audi released the new A1 at an event called A1 Arena. Audi did a great job setting up a display pavilion (including a lounge area with a DJ and a coffee bar), as well as a short gymkhana course on which they had test drivers take guests for an exciting spin in the nimble little car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything was very polished. The small facility looked fresh, models walked around giving away smart water, the DJ spun hip tunes, and everyone got a little thrill on the test drive. Guests could also occupy themselves by looking at the brochure apps on the iPads laying around, or peruse the special edition hats and t-shirts that were for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A1 is a very cool little car, especially with the retro Audi Sport interior livery. Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring it to the US. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wasn’t allowed to drive the car myself, but I caught a ride around the gymkhana and had a great time spending the rest of the afternoon watching the drivers spin other passengers around the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
