The Ring of Rocks<\/em> is a film the ACF Arts team made for the 2009 48 Hour Film Project in Austin, Texas. In 2008, the crew had turned-out a really good film, but because of technical difficulties while rendering the final cut, we missed the deadline and were not eligible for judging. Story here<\/a>. After that disaster, we came back in 2009 with experience under our belt, better organization, and a massive crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like the previous year, Jim Shields and I produced the movie, but for 2009 we brought in Julie Novak to direct and a legion of writers to work the script. It’s generally accepted that the more writers there are on a film, the less likely that film is going to be any good. But the writing team was packed with talent and as you will see, they came together and produced an award-winning script. We also put our acting coach and Equity Actress M.J. Vandivier in front<\/em> of the camera. This was like dropping a bunker buster of talent, style, and class in the middle of our project and the results were tangible, with M.J. winning the 48 Hour Film Project trophy for Best Actress. In fact, the film and the production crew availed themselves nicely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
